ELLSWORTH – A Hancock County Superior Court jury on Tuesday found a Lamoine man guilty on charges of gross sexual assault and violating the conditions of release.

Jurors handed down their verdict against 31-year-old Russell R. Blenkhorn Jr. after a trial that began Monday and ended Tuesday morning. Deliberations lasted about one hour.

Court documents show Blenkhorn was charged with raping his former girlfriend in the bedroom of her Lamoine home on April 28. He was indicted June 7.

On Tuesday, the jury found Blenkhorn not guilty of an assault charge. He is expected to be sentenced next week in Superior Court.
