Ben Lazarski and Jermaine Walker were among seven University of Maine football players who were named to the All-Atlantic 10 teams, which were released Tuesday.
Lazarski, a senior co-captain and offensive lineman, was named to the first team on offense while Walker, also a senior co-captain, earned first-team honors on defense.
Those selections marks the 11th consecutive year at least one Black Bear has been named to the A-10’s first team.
Walker finished the season with 64 tackles (14 unassisted), 114 total tackles, 3.5 sacks and one interception.
Defensive lineman Mike DeVito and safety Jarrod Gomes were both named to the second team. DeVito recorded 34 total tackles – 20 unassisted. 12 of his tackles totaled negative-60 yards, and he added 6.5 sacks.
Gomes racked up 68 total tackles – 46 unassisted and two interceptions.
Daren Stone, a cornerback, was named to the third team. He led the conference with five interceptions and sixth on the team with 41 tackles, 30 solo.
Receivers Mike McMahan and Arel Gordon earned third-team selections.
McMahan posted career highs in receptions (59), yards (893) and touchdowns (13). His 13 touchdown catches was the second-best single season effort in program history. He averaged 81.2 yards receiving per game, 19th-best in the country.
Gordon led the team in catches (70) and finished second in rushing yards with 243. With his 57-yard punt return for a touchdown in an Oct. 1 win over Albany, he now holds the school record for most career punt returns for touchdowns with three.
