MAINE-LY CHILDREN

Krista, 13, inquisitive, churchgoer

Krista is 13, has bright eyes and a beautiful smile. Krista is fun to be around, and she describes herself as kind, talkative and funny. Her biggest wish is to live with a family of her own.

Krista is inquisitive and likes to be around people. She enjoys swimming, playing soccer and softball. Like many teens, Krista enjoys hanging out with her friends and watching movies. Her favorite movie is “Where the Heart Is.”

Krista believes that she is an organized girl. She admits, however, that is hard to tell when viewing her messy bedroom. Krista likes baseball, and she is an avid Red Sox fan. She also likes to watch professional football. Krista enjoys school, especially math and science subjects.

Krista longs for a family but attaching to a new family also feels very risky to her. She needs a loving, patient family that will be sensitive to her concerns, is willing to make a commitment to her and will help her learn to trust that it is safe to be part of a family.

Krista is very interested in attending church regularly. She enjoys reading the Bible and singing worship songs. Her favorite song to sing at church is “Here I Am To Worship.” Krista would like to match with a family whose faith is strong and part of an established church community.

This young teen is a very family-oriented child. She requests that her future adoptive family be active and enjoy community activities. Krista is very good with puppies and babies. She would enjoy being an older sister and a role model for younger siblings.

Families who have previous parenting experience, are flexible in their approach to limit-setting and who are open to receiving outside support to assist them with understanding Krista’s emotional needs will be considered as a potential adoptive resource.

Krista is one of the 174 children in Maine Department of Health and Human Services care who is seeking an adoptive family.

Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.
