SOUTH PARIS – Brewer teammates Shawn Morrison and Charlie Milan III captured the Maine State Open doubles title in candlepin bowling action over the weekend at Oxford Hills Bowling Center.

Morrison and Milan, of the Bangor-Brewer Bowling Lanes, combined for a 10-string total of 2,556 with Morrison totaling a 1,303 and Milan a 1,253. They started strong with Milan rolling opening strings of 139 and 153 and Morrison compiling a 128 and 147.

Scott LaPierre and Ray Dube of Vacationland Lanes in Saco finished second (2,526), Kevin Sparks and Nate Nealey of Colonial Lanes in Westbrook took third (2,488), Tim Matero and Dave Nubig of 1-7-10 Lanes in Augusta finished fourth (2,437), and Jim Pennell and Jim Singleton of the Good Times Lanes in Lisbon were fifth (2,431).

Rici Justice and Judy Bowden of 1-7-10 Lanes won the women’s title with a 2,370 total and Michelle Ward and Marti Damon of Oxford Hills finished second (2,080).
