The Bangor Police Department is investigating a break-in at a Maine Avenue business where an undisclosed amount of money was taken from a metal storage box.
A representative of Fessenden Geo-Environmental Services told police Monday that he noticed the burglary Monday when he came into work. A plate-glass window had been smashed as part of the first attempt to break in, reported Bangor police Officer Butch Moor. A door was pried open and the burglar or burglars forced open a metal cabinet where the change box was kept, according to the police report.
An East Millinocket woman, apparently impatient to get home, became agitated and allegedly assaulted a man at a residence she was visiting, police said.
Darci Austin, 22, was charged with domestic assault and criminal mischief for the incident that occurred on E. Street in Bangor Sunday afternoon. A man visiting his uncle with Austin said that Austin wanted to go home and at one point slapped him, spit on him and tore his shirt, he told Bangor police Officer John Heitmann.
He said that Austin also tripped on a small speaker on the floor and became so upset that she threw it, breaking the speaker. However, police said, Austin claimed she was the one who was assaulted and that the man had gotten on top of her and she was fending him off.
A Bangor woman went into the Filene’s store at the Bangor Mall on Monday afternoon looking for a refund on a comforter even though the comforter still had the security tag on it.
A store employee also reviewed store security footage and told Bangor police Officer Robert Hutchings that the woman hadn’t come into the store with the comforter. Sarah Boggs, 26, was charged with theft and apparently told police that she was hoping to use the money she got from the comforter she hadn’t bought, to buy Christmas presents for her child. She is scheduled to appear in 3rd District Court in Bangor on Dec. 30.
Two people from Bangor were charged with theft Sunday after it was reported they took a box of coffee filters and a seat cushion from the loading docks of the Salvation Army store in Bangor. Earl Orsie, 46, and Ellen Gould, 43, were charged with the theft of the items that had an estimated combined value of $6.
