ROCHESTER, N.H. – A camp counselor from Rochester has been charged in Connecticut with sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in a motel. Police said Michael Newton, 58, was arrested Saturday after the girl who had been traveling with him called to report being assaulted.

ROCHESTER, N.H. – A camp counselor from Rochester has been charged in Connecticut with sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in a motel.

Police said Michael Newton, 58, was arrested Saturday after the girl who had been traveling with him called to report being assaulted.

Police said Newton and the teen were traveling from Maine to New York City to visit camp members, but the exact nature of their trip was still being investigated. They said Newton works as a camp counselor in Maine but declined to identify the camp.
