AUGUSTA – Gov. John Baldacci has tapped radio personality Dan Cashman of Bangor to become his assistant press secretary.
Cashman, a 27-year-old Old Town native, will begin his new job Dec. 7.
“The governor’s in it for the people and I’m excited about doing anything I can to be part of that,” said Cashman, who currently works as program director for WBZN radio in Brewer, where he also hosts a live weekday afternoon show.
He is the son of Jack Cashman, director of the Department of Economic and Community Development within the Baldacci administration.
Cashman’s appointment marks the latest in a series of changes within the governor’s communications office. Last week, administration officials announced that WGME-13 reporter Crystal Canney would become the governor’s new press secretary.
Canney, who assumes her position next month, replaces Lynn Kippax, who now works as director of public and employee communication within the Department of Health and Human Services.
Cashman’s salary will be $38,000.
