BELFAST – Two men were arrested with 240 grams of cocaine and $1,695 in cash after a tip led to a traffic stop on Head of Tide Road on Tuesday afternoon.
Arrested on felony drug charges were Brian Moulton, 35, of Dexter and Louis S. Cintron, 21, of Lowell, Mass.
Moulton was charged with aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs and Cintron was charged with unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs. Both were booked at the Waldo County Jail, where they are being held on $10,000 cash or $50,000 surety bail.
City police Detective Allen Weaver, currently on assignment with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, said authorities were alerted to the two men by a person who said the pair were traveling by vehicle to Belfast.
Weaver, Belfast police Sgt. Walter Corey and Maine State Police Trooper Steve Hills located the vehicle on Route 7 about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday and ordered it to the side of the road at Head of Tide Road.
Hills’ drug detection dog Ruger indicated the presence of drugs in the vehicle. A subsequent search yielded the 240 grams of cocaine. The drugs had a street value of $24,000, Weaver said.
Weaver indicated that the investigation was ongoing and the additional arrests were expected.
“This is still under investigation,” Weaver said Wednesday.
