According to the first-month financial report for Hollywood Slots at Bangor, which opened its Main Street gaming facility to the public on Nov. 4, a total of $28,527,347 was wagered on the facility’s 475 slot machines during November.

Players received a total of $26,559,027, according to the report posted Friday on the Maine Gambling Control Board’s Web site.

The report shows that Penn National’s net revenue – the amount left after payout to players, which is 89 percent of the total played – for its first month of operation was $1,968,320.

Of that amount, $941,662 went to the state in the form of two tax payments, leaving Penn National with a profit of $1,026,658.

“The property is performing as we anticipated, and we’re all happy with the results,” Jon Johnson, Hollywood Slots’ general manager, said Friday. “And we’re happy that the [slots facility] will generate revenue for harness racing, [the fund for] Healthy Maine” and other beneficiaries specified by state law, he said.

Penn National must pay a 1 percent tax on its total slots wager of $28.5 million and a 39 percent tax of its net revenue.
