BELGRADE – A late-night fire Friday at a Belgrade apartment house claimed the life of a 2-year-old boy, authorities said Saturday.
Teegan Carrigan’s father, Eric, suffered burns and smoke inhalation and was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland. Teegan’s mother was at work at the time of the fire, which was reported around 11 p.m.
A couple living upstairs in another apartment were rescued from a window, according to Maine Public Safety Department spokesman Stephen McCausland.
Four investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s Office were assigned to the scene.
