Harness Quoddy’s tides

LNG means “Let’s Not Give” an inch and permit pollution of Washington County and Passamaquoddy Bay with a liquefied natural gas terminal.

QTP means Quoddy Tidal Power can solve the electricity shortage; politicians’ “fear” may strike Maine now because of a shortage of natural gas.

IGC means Indian Gambling Casino can change the face and future of Washington County and the Passamaquoddy Indian Tribe.

ITTTTT means It’s Time To Tap The Tides and spin the wheel.

Does Maine want to sacrifice Passamaquoddy Bay for 40 or 50 jobs? Or, would it prefer to guarantee jobs for thousands, with an uninterrupted and endless supply of electricity for Maine homes, businesses, and manufacturers?

The gas terminal is a short-term answer to our state’s supply of electricity. Quoddy Tidal Power is the only long-term answer and solution to electricity shortages, which will ensure manufacturing jobs, and a steady uninterrupted supply of power to our homes.

We are being forewarned that a shortage of natural gas to generate electricity looms over our homes and work this winter.

Obviously this is a scare tactic to gain public endorsement for the LNG terminal.

If anyone has faith in the continual rise and fall of the tides in Passamaquoddy Bay, then a concerted effort should be made in the state capital and statewide, to save Quoddy. Natural gas is in limited supply – like oil and gasoline. The tides are forever.

Instead of mulling the idea, it’s time to get the Army Corps of Engineers back on the job they started back in the 1930s under FDR. They’re ready.

But would Maine rather wreck Passamaquoddy Bay – the view, the ecology and any attempt to extract power from the second highest tides in the world?
