Simpson leads UMF women by Bates 62-59

FARMINGTON – Kari Simpson recorded 23 points and 11 rebounds to lead the University of Maine-Farmington to a 62-59 women’s basketball win over Bates College of Lewiston Tuesday night.

Karen Sirois and Brandi Rideout added 11 points apiece for the winners.

Meg Coffin’s 18 points and 15 rebounds led the Bobcats and Val Beckwith added 13 points.

At Presque Isle, Pete Bates broke the school record with 53 points to lead Northern Maine Community College by New Brunswick Bible Institute.

Jeremy Chasse added 27 points including three 3-pointers for the winners.

Nate Cahil scored 10 points for NBBI with two 3-pointers.

Brian Wholey chipped in with 12 points while Rob Stockwell and Pat Halloran added 11 apiece for the Bobcats.

Andrew Hippert’s 15 points led the Polar Bears and Kyle Petrie notched 11 points and 10 rebounds.
