WILLIMANTIC – Police searched a wooded area in this Piscataquis County town Tuesday for a man believed to be connected to at least three burglaries in the region.

A search warrant was executed at a remote camp in the community where investigators from the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department found several items that were reported stolen from buildings in Shirley, Bowerbank and Willimantic, according to sheriff’s Lt. Robert Young.

Young said a search was started for the man living at the camp, but he would not identify him. He said deputies spotted the man coming down a hill about the same time the man apparently saw the deputies. The man bolted into the woods. A ground and air search failed to find the man who may have had a dog with him.

Items recovered at the camp included generators, lamps and tools, Young said.
