ERROL, N.H. – A worker at the Lake Umbagog Wildlife Refuge has died after an accident.

State police said Elaine Barnett, 52, of Wilson Mills, Maine, was trying to open a gate on an access road at the refuge when she was pinned against the gate by her pickup truck. She was pronounced dead at Upper Connecticut Valley Regional Hospital in Colebrook.

State police said the Chevrolet pickup may have slid on snow and ice after Barnett got out to open the gate Tuesday.
