Charles is an energetic 11-year-old boy who is eager for a family. He is social, playful and willing to engage in a number of activities. He likes music, drawing, painting, reading, watching movies, and riding his bike.
Charles loves animals. He likes dogs, gerbils, hamsters, rabbits and pretty much anything with four legs and fur. He is taking guitar lessons and has become quite skilled.
Charles also has expressed an interest in performance arts, both with a guitar and in local productions within the community. He has taken dance classes in the past and enjoyed the performances the most.
Charles does well in school. He enjoys the interactions with his teacher and peers. He is a motivated learner and especially enjoys science class. He likes to read books and talk about the stories with people around him. He has an active imagination.
Charles responds well to structure and limits, and a daily routine is important to him. He does best in an environment that is fairly calm. Charles would be successful with a family that provided him with positive one-on-one attention and opportunities to be creative. An adoption subsidy is available for the most appropriate family.
Charles is one of the 174 children in the care of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services who is seeking an adoptive family. Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with Maine DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.
