Victoria’s Secret is on to something with that “Give me everything I want and nothing I need” holiday ad campaign. I like the way those girls think.

This year, take a tip from ShopGirl (or, if you’d prefer, from Tyra Banks and Gisele Bundchen) and say vamoose to the vacuum. Forget the flashlight. And if it comes in extra-large, skip it. Give the woman in your life something she wants, not something she needs. Here are a few of my favorite little luxuries. Indulge!

Troll beads, $17 and up for beads, $38 and up for bracelet, Monica’s Scandinavian Imports, Caribou (to order, call 493-4600)

These sterling silver Danish-designed beads are a sassy – less jangly – take on the traditional charm bracelet. Sentimentality never looked so elegant.

Crystal heart vase, $22, Monica’s Scandinavian Imports, Caribou (to order, call 493-4600)

Show the gardener in your life where your heart is. She’ll think of you all summer long.

Striped T-shirts, $19.50 each or two for $25 at Gap

All of the festivity of Christmas with none of the reindeer embroidery. She’ll look candy-cane cute in these supersoft Ts.

ShopGirl T-shirt, $13, www.bangornews.com or (800) 432-7964.

I may be biased, but I think this is the must-have gift of the season. Available in pink (short sleeve) or gray (long sleeve) – the other option reads “If the shoe fits, buy it” – and there’s a pink hat, too. Just be warned, the shirts are cut snugly, so if you prefer your shirts a bit roomy, order a size or two larger than you normally wear.

Mismatched socks, $18, Best Bib & Tucker in Bangor

A “stocking” stuffer for the wild woman in your life – They’re fun. They don’t match. And they’re supposed to be that way, thank you very much.

Maiden Cove Tote, $42, Ann Veronica, www.annveronica.com

Hand-printed by former Bangor resident Ann Perrino, now of Cape Elizabeth, this adorable bag is the ultimate in preppy chic.

Goody Goody Bon-Bon slippers, $42, Molly’s in Winterport, 223-8838

Flowers! Silk! Velvet! Does it get any more luxurious? These sumptuous slippers will protect her pedicure and warm her lovely feet.

Glass bead earrings, $18, Atlantic Art Glass, Ellsworth, 664-0222

Sweet as candy – and unique to boot. These handmade earrings will tempt you to nibble her ears.

Handmade soaps, $4.95 for three, Maine Artisans Gallery, Airport Mall, Bangor

I’m a sucker for handmade soaps, and these heavenly scented pine trees are a great small gift for the would-be Martha Stewart on your list.

Tiny Meat wallet, $10, Shoegazer in Ellsworth

What to get for the girl who has everything? A funky wallet so she can stash her cash.
