A Bangor man suspected of assaulting his girlfriend Sunday night reportedly left the residence and drove to his mother’s house in Hampden after he had been drinking.
Police responded to Dirigo Drive around 9 p.m. for reports of domestic assault, but when they arrived, the man already had left, according to the alleged victim, his fiancee.
The woman claimed that Jeremy Adams, 34, pushed her and took the phone away from her while she was trying to dial 911, according to a police report.
Adams later was found at his mother’s home in Hampden. When asked how he got there, the man said his brother came to get him, but later admitted that he drove, even though he had been drinking and did not have an active license.
Adams was charged with domestic assault, obstructing the report of a crime, operating under the influence and operating without a license.

Two Bangor gas stations reported to police Tuesday afternoon separate thefts in which patrons drove off without paying for pumped gas.
An employee at the Exxon station on Hogan Road watched a maroon truck leave without paying for $15 worth of gas, according to police. The employee was able to get a license plate number, but it did not match the description of the vehicle.
Less than 20 minutes later, another vehicle drove away from the Citgo station on Hammond Street without paying for $10 in gas. An employee told police that the male operator came inside to pay for cigarettes but failed to pay for the gas, according to a police report.
Both thefts are under investigation and police plan to use surveillance video to track the suspects.
