Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, 2,000 years ago. How can anyone accept a celebration of Christmas by having atheists take Christ out of the word?

Atheists and the American Civil Liberties Union want to remove anything mentioning God, Jesus or any religious attachment to the holiday, or anything else in our country.

How can one celebrate that holiday without Christ? Consider that 87 percent of our country believes in God; 13 percent are atheists. Yet the 13 percent is able to cancel everything the 87 percent believes in.

How is that?

The Christmas story of Scrooge goes through three periods, his youth, the present time and the future. What is it he finds out? Love is missing from his life. He lost his childhood sweetheart in his efforts to make more money. His present life is loveless to his family, employees and the community. His future is bleak as there is no kindness or love in his heart; the community despises him.

Scrooge saves himself by recognizing the needs of others in the community, his family and his workers. What he gives is kindness and love, yes, and his money.

But the story of Christmas is about love. It is the same story Jesus told us in the Gospels. Love one another as I have loved you. The same as the love of God for his people and his son, Jesus Christ.

How can we celebrate this holiday without Christ?

Christmas is not Santa Claus. That is a ploy commercial interests have built up to make the December time frame worth more money to them.

Isn’t this the same principal Scrooge was criticized for – money before love?
