Maj. Gen. John W. Libby, commissioner of the Department of Defense, Veterans and Emergency Management and Adjutant General of the Maine National Guard in Augusta, has announced the promotion to the grade and rank of the following Maine Army National Guard soldiers:

. Clifford R. Conroy Jr., Caribou, 04 Major, 152nd Field Artillery.

. Amber L. Dow, Bangor, E1 Private, 112 Medical Co. (Air Ambulance).

. Joshua N. Field, Bangor, E3 Private First Class, DET 1 196th Military Co.

. Stephen M. Flagg Jr., Bangor, E2 Private, 286th Petroleum Supply Battalion.

Activated

ORRINGTON – Lance Cpl. Christopher Noyes of Orrington, a Marine Reservist with Company A, 1st Division, 25th Marines, Topsham, was activated Dec. 1 for Fort Devens in Massachusetts.

He will be stationed at Camp Pendleton in California, where he will undergo desert training. He will be deployed to Iraq in March.

Noyes has completed his freshman year at the University of Maine and plans to return to school after his tour of duty.

Basic training

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Army Pfc. Andrew Reeks has graduated from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. The training consists of basic combat training and advanced individual training.

Reeks is the son of Marie Reeks of Glenburn and the grandson of Marie Harrington of Bangor. He is a 2005 graduate of Bangor High School.
