State’s newest police officers graduate from academy today

VASSALBORO – Maine’s 64 newest police officers will graduate at 10 a.m. today from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.

The commencement speaker will be Chief Judge Vandean Vafiades of the Maine District Court.

The officers come from the state, county and municipal ranks and have completed 18 weeks of study and training. Among the training topics were criminal and traffic law, domestic violence, firearms, first aid, crime scene processing, emergency vehicle operation and sexual assault.
