Ron Brown on target
I enjoyed very much Ron Brown’s article (BDN, Dec. 13) titled “Now is the time to honor USA, salute troops.” I think the points he made were right on and frankly most sports fans I know would embrace them most heartily.
How soon we forget how dear our liberty and freedom is and because the going gets a little rough we wish we could have it all for nothing. Such is not the case and has never been. Articles like Ron’s will help remind people how precious this freedom is to our way of life and it is worth defending as our fore-fathers always have.

School had JV team
Recently an article in your sports page (BDN, Dec. 13) featured an interview with the new coach of the Bangor Christian girls basketball team. According to the reporter, she was told by the coach that the girls had not had a JV team for several years.
As the former coach of the BC varsity team, I can assure you that information is incorrect. My first year of coaching, the JV team was coached by Heather Oullette. My second year we went a few games without a JV team as we did not have enough kids. With the addition of a few more girls, we then had a JV team again as well, in which my wife volunteered to coach that team last year.
This information is important to know out of respect to the young ladies who played on those JV teams over the past two years at Bangor Christian.
