EAST MACHIAS – the Washington Academy Raiders closed the first half on a 20-3 run en route to a 58-43 high school girls basketball win over Jonesport-Beals Tuesday night.
Ashley Tilton scored 17 points and Sara Rushforth added 11 for the Raiders. Mary Mawhinney chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Rachel Church led the Royalettes with 10 points.

At Machias, freshman Blake Chase hit a key 3-pointer as Narraguagus of Harrington held off a late Machias rally for its first win.
Machias had rallied from an 18-point deficit to within two in the fourth quarter before Chase hit his only field goal of the game to thwart the Bulldogs’ momentum.
Ren Dorr led Narraguagus with 23 points, 16 in the third quarter. Ben Grant and Jeff Taylor each added 12 points for the Knights.
Michael Little scored a game-high 26 points for Machias, while Isaiah Roberts added 14 points and 20 rebounds.
This game was decided at the free-throw line, where Narraguagus made 20 of 29 attempts while Machias made just 12 of 36 tries.
