Five members of the University of Maine football team have been selected for the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team.

Junior defensive back Joe Vanidestine of Bangor, sophomore offensive lineman Shawn Demaray of Livermore Falls and junior punter Rocco Navarro of Portland are among the Black Bears honored for their accomplishments in the classroom. They are joined by junior defensive back Alex Goyins and senior wide receiver John Bartemus.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 and be a starter or key reserve. Voting is conducted by the league’s sports information directors.
