Recently, I saw a news segment reporting Howard Stern will earn $100 million a year for the next five years. Sirius Satellite Radio will charge listeners $12.95 a month to hear his show. They need one million subscribers a year to make a profit and expect to sign that many and more.
I wonder how many of those subscribers are the same people who complain when their property taxes are raised an equivalent amount to support municipal services and education. At the current average salary for teachers, it would take those who educate our youth more than 2,000 years to earn the same amount this “shock jock” will receive annually.
Now that’s shocking!
