Being a member of the order of Fraternal Brother of Eagles No. 3177 for many years, I feel it is necessary to voice my complaints in written form, as it seems we older folks are being ignored when it comes to voicing our concerns in the mechanics of our organization.
Instead of a united club, we have a separation of the older members who no longer smoke or spend our money or time on alcoholic beverages. We had our day and now we enjoy evenings of fellowship – sober and smoke-free – and dancing .
You tell us there is a problem paying the band? No wonder, as inconsistent as it was a few weeks ago in booking the hall. People will not come thinking, “Is there a dance, or a private party?” Pretty poor when the body of Eagles is barred from entertainment in their own hall by the officers duly elected by them.
If money is a problem, then raise the price of admission from $2 to $3.50 per member. Take the restriction, three times only or join, to unlimited as long as they are duly signed in. Then raise their admission to $4.50 per person.
Why discriminate? Charge the patrons admission downstairs as well as on night you have entertainment down there. Do these things and will have more than enough to pay the bands.
It is discouraging for us seniors to be ignored in our concern for this club. Apparently our ideas are too antiquated for approval or discussion.
