The city of Brewer again will allow residents to drop off Christmas trees free of charge at either the Brewer landfill on Elm Street during its regular hours or at Brewer Auditorium, inside the lower gate off Wilson Street, anytime before Jan. 23. “This is for formerly live trees, not artificial trees,” City Clerk Archie Verow said Thursday. Regular curbside trash pickup will not take Christmas trees. The city reminds residents not to push, plow or otherwise block sidewalks with snow after it has been plowed. “It is against the law, and it forces citizens to walk around in the road, which can be dangerous, especially for children,” the city’s Web site states. Anyone with questions about the city’s winter rules may go to www.brewerme.org or call City Hall at 989-7050. (Nok-Noi Hauger, BDN)
