Patriots cruise to victory over Howlers

BANGOR – Josh Frost netted 19 points and Brock Bradford scored 13 to lead the Bangor Christian Patriots past Penobscot Valley 63-46 in boys basketball action Thursday.

Matt Denbow added 11 for the winners.

Matt Cummings paced the Howlers of Howland with 26.

Katahdin placed six scorers in double figures, led by Patrick Willett with 16 points and Brett Gould with 12. McAvoy, Jared Anderson, Keith Anderson and Owen McCarthy each added 10 points.

Tom Bird scored 25 points to lead Lee Academy and Peter Pickering had 16 points for the Pandas, whose losses have come against Calais, Deer Isle-Stonington and Katahdin – all undefeated teams.

Gahagan finished with a team-high 15 points, Schofield had her 14 and Kristen Espling had 13 points for the winners with Ali Richards contributing nine more.

Ashley Kelley had a game-high 22 points for Hermon and also grabbed eight rebounds. Cassie White had 16 points and 12 rebounds and Hillary Keith dished out five assists.
