Ramsdell, WA Raiders cruise past Narraguagus

HARRINGTON – Jeff Ramsdell scored 11 of his 19 points during a 31-12 second-quarter run as the Washington Academy Raiders of East Machias rolled to their third win of the season, 82-63 over the Narraguagus Knights in schoolboy basketball action Friday.

Jared Sternbergh tossed in 18 points and Mike Von Rotz 15 for Washington Academy. Joey Hunter added 12.

Luke Parsons paced the host Knights with 19 points. Blake Chase added 14 points and Ren Dorr 10 points and nine rebounds.

Broncos’ Cook scores 1,000th

At Gardiner, Peter Kelley scored 16 points and Sean McNally and Kyle Stilphen added 14 points each as the Tigers knocked Hampden Academy from the unbeaten ranks.

Gardiner, which picked up its fourth straight win, rallied from an 11-point halftime deficit to take the lead early in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers used a zone defense with good success in the second half, and also outrebounded Hampden 18-10 after intermission.

McNally also had 11 rebounds and two blocked shots for the Tigers, while Stilphen dished out five assists.

J Uhrin led Hampden with 16 points, while senior center Jordan Cook had 15 points – including the 1,000th of his career – along with 10 rebounds and three blocked shots. Daniel McCue chipped in with 12 points for the Broncos.
