BANGOR – A Dixmont man was listed in critical condition Sunday at Eastern Maine Medical Center after he missed a turn on the Ridge Road early New Year’s Day and crashed into a house.
Patrick Beck, 24, was traveling alone toward Route 69 about 12:45 a.m. when he missed a turn and drove between a telephone pole and a tree, Maine State Trooper Forest Simpson said Sunday. Beck’s 1999 Ford Windstar struck a house at 215 Ridge Road, pushing an outside wall into an entertainment center inside the home.
Beck was ejected from the minivan at some point, according to Simpson. When police arrived, the man’s pelvis and legs were pinned under the roof of the vehicle. Extrication equipment was used to lift the van off the driver.
Speed as well as ice and snow on the road could have been contributing factors, the trooper said, and the accident is being reconstructed.
