CASTINE – Jed Johnson of Clinton, who was a two-time North Atlantic Conference player of the year for the Maine Maritime Academy men’s basketball team, has signed to play for Onsabruecker SC, a team in northwest Germany.
Johnson, who graduated in 2003, is the all-time leading scorer (1,618 points) and rebounder (1,155) for the Mariners. He led NCAA Division III with 16.4 rebounds per game in 2003. The 6-foot-8 post player graduated from Lawrence High in Fairfield in 1999.
After a six-month tour with the New York Nationals, the opponent for the Harlem Globetrotters, he considered offers to play in Europe and South America before signing with Onsabruecker SC.
