The Bangor Daily News won 12 awards in the 2005 Advertising Awards Competition of the New England Newspaper Advertising Executives Association. “Perspective 2005,” the annual business edition produced by the BDN advertising staff, generated three first-place awards, including best of show. The newspaper competed in the 60,000 and over circulation class, which also included The Boston Globe, Providence Journal, Hartford Courant, Worcester Telegram & Gazette and the Portland Press Herald. In addition to best of show, “Perspective 2005” also won in the new revenue builder idea and best regularly scheduled special section competitions. Other first-place finishes were for best business to business publication for the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce Annual Report, done by Linda Hayes and Mary Griffin, revenue-generating event marketing for the 66th National Folk Festival, best Web site idea by Tim Archambault and Shelley Sund, and best multiple participant advertisement for Maine Retirement Living.
