GUILFORD – Mike Wharff hit five 3-pointers on his way to 17 points to lift the Piscataquis Community Pirates to a 49-46 schoolboy basketball win over the Valley Cavaliers Tuesday night.

Roy Burdin chipped in with 16 points for Piscataquis.

Travis Hovey tallied a game-high 19 points for Valley of Bingham. Shawn Lay chipped in with 10 points.

Ian Lee and Josh Tardiff each had one goal and one assist and Adam Nason a goal for 4-5 Hampden. Nick Beal provided two assists. Matt Albert had 12 saves on 15 shots.

Dylan Collins led the 4-4 Wildcats with a goal and assist. David O’Brien and Ted Gagnon added a goal each and Brendan Esquibel saved 22 of 27 shots.

Foxcroft 9, Stearns 1

At Millar Arena in Houlton, Chad Phillips, Bill Moriarty and Adam Conway each scored two goals and had at least one assist to lead Foxcroft by Stearns.

Durgin McKusick, Dave White and Dan Rosebush each added a goal for the Ponies. Jon Catell made 28 saves on 29 shots for 2-4 Foxcroft.

Spencer Pelkey scored the goal for Stearns of Millinocket. Paul Rucci stopped 23 of 32 shots for the 0-4 Minutemen.

Orono 7, Waterville 2

At Alfond Arena, Orono, Tony Raymond scored two goals and had two assists to help lead Orono past Waterville.

Sean Babin had two goals and an assists for the 7-1 Red Riots and Travis Bryant scored a goal and assisted three others. Kyle Weiland had a goal and an assist and Chris McConnon scored a goal. Keith Hedrick made 28 saves on 30 shots.

Jason Fitton scored 19 seconds into the second period on a Barrett Moore assist for the 7-1-1 Panthers and Nick Steward scored a short-handed goal in the second. Joseph Fonollosa and Nolan MacDonald combined to stop 25 of 32 shots.
