Hayes leads Eagles to victory over Bears

LIMESTONE – Junior center Danny Hayes scored 17 of his 19 points after intermission as the Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics boys basketball team knocked off Easton 53-46 for its fourth straight victory in high school action Wednesday.

Hayes also grabbed 12 rebounds for the Eagles, while teammate Dustin Morgan made three 3-point goals and scored 11 points.

Jeremy Brock paced Easton with 19 points.

At Baileyville, senior point guard Stephen Newell scored a career-high 31 points as host Woodland earned the Downeast Athletic Conference win.

Newell also had nine rebounds and four steals. Freshman Ben Sears added 11 points, 10 rebounds and five steals for the Dragons, while Todd Diadone had 10 points and 14 reb ounds.

Aaron Sullivan paced Shead of Eastport with 15 points, while Dana Mitchell scored nine.
