BANGOR – Marcus Desjardins, son of Wayne and Carola Desjardins of Bangor, recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.

The award ceremony was held in the historic log dining hall of Camp Roosevelt at the Katahdin Scout Reservation in Eddington and attended by family, friends, and fellow Scouts of Troop 301.

For his Eagle community project, Desjardins built and installed a gardening shed for the residents of the Bangor Maine Veterans’ Home.

Desjardins’ scouting experiences include working summers at Camp Roosevelt, hiking Gulf Hagas, canoeing the Allagash Wilderness Waterway, and serving as an assistant Scoutmaster for a council troop at the 2005 National Scout Jamboree held in Virginia.

He expects to continue in Scouting by serving as an adult leader in Troop 301 chartered by Grace Methodist Church of Bangor.

A recent graduate of Bangor High School, Desjardins plans to attend Husson College this semester and to pursue a career in military aviation with the United States Air Force.
