ELLSWORTH – A Boothbay Harbor man was injured in a two-car accident on Route 3 Wednesday afternoon.

Police said Harold Belgard, 40, lost and regained consciousness at the crash scene and was taken to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Belgard was driving on Route 3 at about 4 p.m. when he rear-ended a vehicle driven by Kara Stanley, 18, of Ellsworth, who at the time was waiting to make a left turn into Pat’s Pizza, police said.

Officers said Belgard was unable to stop, perhaps because of a medical condition. The accident remains under investigation.
