ROCKLAND – Let it snow, let it snow – in time for Rockland Rotary’s annual Winter Carnival slated for Sunday, Feb. 12, at Snow Marine Park.
Along with the daylong community celebration from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the park, the carnival also teams up with Rockland District High School’s Project Graduation fundraiser, known as the “Polar Plunge.”
The frigid dip in Rockland Harbor takes place at noon that day regardless of weather.
Anyone interested in participating in the sixth annual swim should contact Debbie McKenney at the high school at 596-2010. Even those who don’t want to get wet can contribute to the student fund, McKenney said.
Besides sledding and skating, there will be other winter activities and games. Food and hot and cold beverages will be on sale in a heated tent. Horse-drawn carriage rides around the park will be offered.
The event is meant to be an inexpensive day of family fun, City Manager Tom Hall said. The rain date for the carnival event is Sunday, Feb. 19, same time, same place.
