Stockwell, Ray power Bates men past Colby

WATERVILLE – Rob Stockwell scored 21 points, grabbed 18 rebounds and had three assists to lead the Bates College Bobcats to a 66-55 men’s basketball victory over the Colby College White Mules Saturday.

Bangor High graduate Zak Ray added nine assists and six points for Bates.

Mackenzie Simpson paced Colby with 22 points, while Bingham’s Mark Gaudet added 15 points and four assists.

Nicole Hekle had a goal and an assist for No. 1-ranked 17-2-1 New Hampshire. Brittany Busa made 15 saves on 18 shots.

Patricia Gagnon scored a goal and assisted on another for the 10-5-5 Black Bears. Julie Poulin and Brigitte Laflamme both added a goal. Chantal Jaillet, Sonia Corriveau, and Katie Sunstrum each had an assist. Rachel Gettings stopped 21 of 26 shots.
