ORONO – Kyle Weiland scored two goals and assisted on one to lead the Orono Red Riots to a 5-1 high school hockey win over the Houlton-Hodgdon Black Hawks Thursday night during Orono’s Ian Pasquarelli Night at Alfond Arena.
Orono proclaimed the night for Pasquarelli, a Houlton-Hodgdon senior hockey player who has battled non-Hodgkins lymphoma, a cancer of the white blood cells. Orono presented Pasquarelli with six tickets for tonight’s Maine-Providence men’s hockey game as well as hotel and restaurant accommodations.
Travis Bryant and Tony Raymond each chipped in with a goal and an assist for 8-2 Orono, and Chris McConnon added a goal. Sean Babin and Tommy Smyth each contributed an assist, and Keith Hedrick made 19 saves on 20 shots.
Jordan Gard scored off an assist from Sharif Abouleish for 7-3 Houlton-Hodgdon, and Nic Joslyn made 26 saves on 31 shots.

At Sawyer Arena in Bangor, Andrew Casey and Matt Swift had two goals and an assist apiece as John Bapst of Bangor improved to 4-5.
Casey Hull had the other goal, Nate Kuneman made 16 saves, and the Crusaders also received assists from Connor Schofield, Travis Poulin, and Chase Huckestein.
Bill Moriarty had a goal and an assist for 4-5 Foxcroft Academy. David White and Joe Caparrelli had the other goals with Logan Forrest and Chad Phillips collecting assists. Jon Catell made 36 saves.
