Taylor sparks Calais

CALAIS – Chris Taylor tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead the undefeated Calais Blue Devils to a 59-48 schoolboy basketball victory over the Hyde School Phoenix Thursday night.

Brandon Tomah chipped in with 13 points and nine rebounds for the Blue Devils. Sam Bell scored 14 points and added five steals.

Lewis Watkins scored 17 points for Hyde of Bath and Tom Bragg added 11.

At Jonesport, senior forward Ross Griffin scored 25 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked four shots to lift the Royals past Narraguagus of Harrington.

Griffin had nine second-quarter points and Joseph Libby had seven of his 16 as Jonesport-Beals outscored Narraguagus 20-8 to build a 16-point halftime lead.

Jonathan Brock had 10 points and eight rebounds for the Royals and Benjamin Ellis added 10 points.

Ren Dorr scored 10 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead Narraguagus.

Casey Hull had the other goal, Nate Kuneman made 16 assists and the Crusaders also received assists from Connor Schofield, Travis Poulin and Chase Huckestein.

Bill Moriarty had a goal and an assist for 4-5 Foxcroft Academy. David White and Joe Caparrelli had the other goals with Logan Forrest and Chad Phillips collecting assists. Jon Catell made 36 saves.
