The Franciscan Brothers of St. Elizabeth of Hungary, who run the Friars’ Bakehouse downtown, will leave Jan. 29 for work in Haiti and Mexico. Brothers Donald and Kenneth are seeking donations for their work with the Episcopal priest who runs St. Luc’s School and church in Trou du Nord, Haiti, and the village Isla Mujeres, the barrier island to Cancun. “Due to the weight restrictions of multiple flights,” Brother Donald wrote in an e-mail, “we cannot take material donations on this trip. Any and all monetary donations would be very appreciated.” Donations can be made at Friars’ Bakehouse, 21 Central St. Bangor. Call 947-3770. The bakehouse is scheduled to reopen Feb. 15.
