ASHLAND – Cameron York led five players in double figures with 23 points as Central Aroostook Panthers of Mars Hill cruised to their 11th straight victory, 84-52 over the Ashland Hornets in schoolboy basketball action Friday night.

Andrew York added 16 points for the Panthers, while Sam Clockedile scored 12 points and Tyler McLaughlin and Erick Martinez added 10 points each.

Trevor Tompkins paced Ashland with 23 points, including five 3-point goals. Curtis Belanger grabbed 13 rebounds for the Hornets.

At Kennebec Ice Arena in Augusta, Ryan Cyr and Erik St. Peter each had a goal and an assist, but it was Ben McPherson’s goal with 3:04 left that won the game for the Presque Isle Wildcats.

Cyr assisted on the game-winner for the 6-5 ‘Cats. Brandon Daigle tallied two assists for Presque Isle and Dylan Collins notched one. Brendon Esquibel saved 18 of 20 shots.

For the Tigers, Kevin May scored unassisted and Zoe Fisk scored on a Josh Wheelock assist. Chris Howe made 24 saves on 27 shots.

Orono 5, Houlton-Hodgdon 1

At Alfond Arena in Orono on Thursday, Kyle Weiland scored two goals and assisted on one to lead the Red Riots during Orono’s Ian Pasquarelli Night.

Orono proclaimed the night for Pasquarelli, a Houlton-Hodgdon senior hockey player who has battled non-Hodgkins lymphoma, a cancer of the white blood cells. Orono presented Pasquarelli with six tickets for Friday night’s Maine-Providence men’s hockey game as well as hotel and restaurant accommodations.

Travis Bryant and Tony Raymond each chipped in with a goal and an assist for 8-2 Orono and Chris McConnon added a goal. Sean Babin and Tommy Smyth each contributed an assist and Keith Hedrick made 19 saves on 20 shots.

Jordan Gard scored off an assist from Sharif Abouleish for 7-3 Houlton-Hodgdon and Nic Joslyn made 26 saves on 31 shots.
