Cote, Ames combine to lead Dexter past Stearns

DEXTER – Sabrina Cote tossed in a game-high 20 points and Mallory Ames added 19 as the Dexter Tigers defeated the Stearns Minutemen 61-45 in schoolgirl basketball action Friday night.

Katie Poirier chipped in with 10 points for the Tigers.

Deanna Michaud led the Minutemen with 14 points.

At Farmington, Christina Mosher had 21 points, 13 rebounds and four assists as the Cougars held off Bangor.

Mt. Blue jumped out to an 11-3 lead at the end of the first quarter and never trailed thereafter, though Bangor did have a 3-point attempt to tie the game in the final seconds that fell off the rim.

Bonnie Silkman added 12 points for Mt. Blue.

Kelsey Curtis paced Bangor with 15 points, while Amy Hackett added 14 – all in the second half.

At Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor, Beth Bartley scored her 1,000th career point and Susan Muzzy lead all scorers with nine points as Greenville rolled past Highview Christian.

Leslie Harris netted eight and Bartley finished with four points for the winners.

Michala Rowe led the Knights with four points.
