COLLEGE

Aecio Madeira

Thomas College’s Aecio Madeira was chosen as NAC and Maine Men’s Basketball Coaches Association Rookie of the Week. Madeira had 26 points and 8 rebounds in a conference win over Becker College and 20 points with 11 rebounds in a win over Maine Maritime Academy.

Ashley Marble

Ashley Marble of the University of Southern Maine Huskies was honored as Little East Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Marble averaged a double-double with 18.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game leading the Huskies to a pair of LEC wins last week.

Buddy Leavitt

Husson College senior Buddy Leavitt was named NAC and Maine Men’s Basketball Coaches Association Co-Player of the Week. Leavitt averaged 23.8 points and seven rebounds for the Eagles who were 3-1 on the week.

Johanna Bubar

Johanna Bubar of the University of Maine-Presque Isle was honored as Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Rookie of the Week. Bubar totaled 27 points and was perfect on all 10 of her free throw attempts in two games for the Owls.

Kari Simpson

University of Maine-Farmington junior Kari Simpson was selected as NEC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Simpson led UMF to a 3-0 conference week averaging 16.3 points, 11 rebounds and 3.7 steals for the Beavers.

Nicole Corbin

Nicole Corbin of the University of Maine-Fort Kent was named Sunrise Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Corbin scored 35 points against College of St. Joseph and averaged 22 points a game in three Sunrise Conference wins.

Toby Martin

Thomas College’s Toby Martin was selected as Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week. Martin averaged 26.3 points, 2 assists and 2 steals per game as the Terriers went 2-1 in North Atlantic Conference play.

Travis Carrier

University of Maine-Farmington senior Travis Carrier was chosen as NAC Co-Player of the Week. Carrier shot 61.8% from the floor and averaged 16.7 points and 13.3 rebounds in three games last week.

Zak Ray

Zak Ray of Bates College was honored as NESCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Ray averaged 13 points, 3.3 assists, 3 rebounds and 2.67 steals per game as the Bobcats went 3-0 last week.
