SOLDIER HOLLOW, Utah – Steve Scott, who competes for the Maine Winter Sports Center, was named to the U.S. team for the 2006 Under-23 Cross Country World Championships.

The competition will run from Jan. 31 to Feb. 3 in Krani, Slovenia.

The under-23 championships are designed to be a transitional bridge for athletes who are too old for junior races but haven’t yet started to compete in World Cups on a regular basis.

Scott, a 22-year-old native of St. Paul, Minn., lives and trains at the Nordic Heritage Ski Center in Presque Isle. He is ranked 19th in the country.
