Myles lifts USM to 17th victory Marble scores 1,000th point

BOSTON – Senior forward Megan Myles scored 19 points and junior forward Ashley Marble became the 17th player in school history to record 1,000 career points as the No. 1 nationally ranked University of Southern Maine women’s basketball team rolled to a 95-43 victory over UMass Boston Tuesday night.

Katie Frost chipped in with 15 points, Angela Santa Fe added 13 and Lindsey Welch netted 11 for the winners. Marble contributed eight points and eight rebounds.

Alicia Querusio paced UMass Boston with 13 points.

At Boston, Tony Barros scored 23 points and had 12 rebounds to lead the University of Massachusetts Boston past the University of Southern Maine of Gorham in overtime.

Amigo Paniagua scored 20 points for UMass Boston and Rodney Bennett had 18 points and nine rebounds. Charles Yuan had 12 points and James Hall added 10 points.

Jesse McKinnell led the Huskies with 19 points and 15 rebounds and Walter Phillips scored 17 points. Bill Hardwick had 13 points and 10 rebounds and Charlie O’Neill also scored 13 points.

At Farmington, Rob Stockwell scored 31 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as the Bobcats downed the Beavers for their 12th straight victory.

Bates ran off 17 straight points over the end of the first half and start of the second to take a 48-31 lead and control of the game.

Pat Halloran scored 17 points for the Bobcats of Lewiston, and Zak Ray of Bangor had 13 points and nine assists.

Travis Carrier topped the Beavers with 17 points, and Sean Fry added 11 points and 10 rebounds.
