Orono
Book and bake sale
The annual Friends of the Orono Public Library Used Book and Bake Sale will be held 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at the library (no early birds).
Enter through the library for directions to the sale. There is no admission charge and proceeds from the sale benefit the library, especially children’s programming.
This year the sale has particularly good offerings of vintage and collectible books including Maine books, romances, children’s books and nonfiction.
The new bicentennial cookbook, “Orono Cooks,” also will be available. There is sure to be something for everyone.
The bake sale will feature some items made from “Orono Cooks” recipes as well as a great assortment of cookies cakes, breads, muffins and pies. A $2.50 lunch will be available; a bowl of homemade soup with crackers, cornbread, cookie and beverage.
