Outdoor show set for Old Town

OLD TOWN – Penobscot Flyfishers, in partnership with Old Town Canoe, will host the second annual Cabin Fever Reliever outdoor show 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, at the Old Town-Orono YMCA. The show will offer a plethora of talent from around the state and Old Town Canoe’s famous overstocked, discontinued and slightly blemished canoe and kayak sale.

The show will feature exhibitors and educational booths with a focus on education, instruction and demonstration. Admission to the event is free.

Highlights of the show include fly-casting instruction, flytying instruction, fly rod building, decoy carving, artists, snowshoe makers, GPS navigation and lure making.

Representatives from Maine Becoming an Outdoor Woman, Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Maine Department of Conservation and Penobscot River Restoration also will be on hand.

The show will include a taxidermy booth and a sample of the mounts, the Wild Turkey Federation, Maine Audubon and speakers on both days.

Those who attend may enter a drawing to win a door prize.

. Rod McGarry – Fly-casting instruction in the gymnasium.

. Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

. Atlantic Salmon Council.

. Maine’s Outdoor Learning Center.

. Maine Parks and Recreation – Allagash Waterway.

. Randy McEwen – GPS Navigation.

. Maine Spaniel Field Trial Club.

. Dan Legere and Castine Kayak – demonstrations in the pool.
