LAMOINE – A 20-year-old local woman was taken to the hospital Thursday night after the vehicle she was driving went off the road and hit a tree and a utility pole on Route 184.

Lisa Clark was trapped inside her Jeep Grand Cherokee after the accident, which occurred at about 11 p.m.

Police said the Jeep went into a slide after Clark rounded a corner in the southbound lane of Route 184. She overcorrected and went into the ditch, where she hit a tree and a utility pole, they said.

The pole snapped off and came down on top of the vehicle, pinning Clark inside. She was extricated by Lamoine firefighters and taken by ambulance to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth. Information on her condition was not available Friday afternoon.

Police said the Jeep was a total loss.
