HOULTON – Ryan Hill went three-for-three from the foul line in the fourth quarter and Houlton converted five of six in the period en route to a 53-49 upset victory over Central of Corinth in boys basketball action on Saturday.

Doug Hagerman paced the winners with 20 points and sparked them in the first half with 14. Justin Stewart added 13 points.

Danny Kane led Central with 17 points.

Brandon Esquibel and Ethan Hill combined for 20 saves on 22 shots for the 9-7 Wildcats.

Dan Mangano and Ian Lee each posted a goal for Hampden. Matt Soucy and Adam Nason each added an assist. Matt Albert had 24 saves on 32 shots for the 6-9 Broncos.

Orono 8, Stearns 2

At Miller Civic Center, Houlton, Travis Bryant scored four goals to lead Orono to victory over Stearns.

Tony Raymond, Brandon Paul and Ben Perry each had a goal and an assist while Chris McConnon added a goal. Luke Estes, Tom Smyth and Mark Cloutier each had two assists.

Kyle Weiland, Nathan Michaud and Dan Ohno each contributed an assist. Jared Buzzell made 16 saves on 18 shots for the 11-4 Red Riots.

Jake Emery and Mike Busque each netted a goal for Stearns. Derek McGillicuddy, Mike Simon and Nate Cyr each added an assist. Paul Rucci had 50 saves on 58 shots for the 1-12 Minutemen.

At Sawyer, Andrew Casey scored what proved to be the game-winning goal off a pass from Travis Poulin to lead John Bapst by Foxcroft Academy.

Alex Yates netted the first goal off an assist from Casey Hill. Nate Kuneman made 15 saves on 16 shots for the 5-8 Crusaders.

Chad Phillips scored for Foxcroft off assists from Adam Conway and Odue White. John Katell stopped 27 of 29 shots for the 4-8 Ponies.

At Presque Isle, Angela Norsworthy scored eight of her 17 points in overtime to help keep Presque Isle undefeated.

Katie Delong had 14 points and eight rebounds for the Wildcats and Moriah Morris had 11 points and nine rebounds.
