Tidbits

Tea time

Last week’s Tidbits entry about Verna Cox’s tea sets gave the information for a previous design, the lupine. Her 2006 potato blossom cups and saucers are available from Friends of the Blaine House for $35 plus $7.50 for shipping, handling and insurance. For information, contact info@blainehouse.org.

Think pink

Flying solo for V-Day? Celebrate being single – and fabulous – by throwing a grown-up girls’ night in with your best gal pals. The folks at Red Bicyclette winery have a few suggestions for throwing your own “pink party” at home: Wear pink PJs, decorate with pink flowers and balloons; watch movies such as “Pretty in Pink,” “The Pink Panther” and “Grease” (don’t forget the Pink Ladies!); have a pink spa, with pink nail polish, lip glosses and scrubs; and serve pink foods and drinks, including Red Bicyclette’s French Rose, available in grocery stores.

Sweets for the sweet

You know you’re one hot cookie, so why not show off during the Valentine’s Day Cookie Contest, sponsored by Monroe Salt works and the Bangor Daily News. Bakers should drop off two dozen Valentine cookies along with a recipe between 9 and 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at Monroe Salt Works, 150 High St. in Ellsworth. Judging will take place from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by a charity cookie sale (three for a dollar) starting at 1 p.m. All proceeds will benefit Manna of Bangor and Brewer Kiwanis Children’s Charities. For information, call Tricia Largay at 667-3349.
